Jenn Mikitka: Questions

  1. Because my subject matter is so personal, what should I include in my video?
    1. Adding onto this, how do I keep the focus and meaning of my words when adding a visual if that visual cannot be as hard-hitting as the words?
  2. Do I need more personal stories or are the ones I have enough to cause an effect on the listener?
  3. Do I even need the facts about sexual assault and if so, should I add more or just leave that one really shocking statistic?
  4. What can I do to bring this poem to a higher, more personal level to the people listening to it?
  5. What effect would it have if I brought my own personal experiences into it instead of just people I know?

  1. Hi Jenn, for your project consider formulating questions that relate in some way to your topic, that you can then ask other people. Maybe you'd like to find out about the emotional aftermath that assault victims face, and how they deal with it. Or maybe you want to interview people who aren't assault victims, to see how knowing a victim impacts them. Either way, make your questions focused on creating a dialogue you can add to your project. The questions could be more loosely related if you'd prefer.

  3. Okay so I changed my question to fit the actual prompt and here they are:
    1. Have you ever felt unsafe because of your gender?
    2. Do you know anyone who has been sexually assaulted?
    3. Do you take extra steps to be safe when you go out?
    4. Do you feel that sexual assault victims are treated unfairly?
    5. Are girls raised to be afraid of boys?
